We are very sorry to announce that the international archer tournament Berlin Open has been canceled for 2017 and the future. The organizers, the BSC BB Berlin and its organization team, are not able to organize the tournament in its usual or improved form on a voluntary basis for professional, health and private reasons.
We would like to thank all national and international athletes for participating in the Berlin Open. In recent years, we have been able to welcome many top athletes in Berlin. Many young national and international young athletes came to Berlin and shot with great success.
We would especially like to thank all the volunteers from BSC BB-Berlin and the other archery clubs. Without them the Berlin Open would have never become such a successful tournament!
Many supporters, sponsors, manufacturers, traders and persons as well as institutions have contributed to the success of the tournament over the years. Special thanks goes to Win & Win South Korea, HOYT, Danage of Scandinavia, Beiter, Bogensportwelt, EST-Bogensport, Marstall Bogensport, Easton, hotel Holiday Inn, Sportforum Berlin with its employees and the Bogensportmagazin.
Last but not least, thanks to all the judges who have been involved in the Open for many years, the great evaluation team around Emmilio Allmendinger and personal thanks to Andreas Lorenz for his moderation and conceptual support. Fortunately, the international archery on top level will not stop straightaway in Berlin: Starting this summer, for the next three years, the Worldcup will be held in Berlin.
For us Peter Elzinga is also a winner of the Berlin Open! Peter Elzinga and Stephan Hansen both shot a perfect score in the shoot off. It was too close to call. Despite what happened they both are winners.
We - the organizer of the Berlin Open - feel they both should be winners and we will pay the full price money for the first place to Peter Elzinga too.
As in previous years, we will also offer training opportunities during the Berlin Open this year. Details will be published. To our regret, we must point out that the training hall for people with disabilities (especially wheelchair users) is not suitable. For safety reasons, in particular excape routes, training for wheelchair users is not possible.
On October 17th 2016 at 8pm clock the registration for this year's Berlin Open will open. As always, we are very curious about the progress. The experiences of the past two years have shown us, to our delight, an overwhelming success. Thank you very much for this and the confidence you placed in us. The downside of the medal is, however, that many no longer sign up after activation of the waiting list. Therefore, our call to all potential starters. Please register. Due to various factors there is always the possibility to move into the starter field. We work on the startet list up until the last week before the tournament and move up people from the waiting list. But for that, you have to be registered.
For several years, we have left the entry fee unchanged although the cost of the event has constantly increased. Despite strict cost control, there were new costs and some increases of up to 100 percent. We are therefore forced to make a moderate increase of the entry fee by 5.00 Euro to 55.00 Euro per starter. We hope for your understanding.
Dear archers and friends. We are really happy to tell you, that the 7th Berlin Open will take place this year as usual from 9th till 11th of december. The registration will open on 17th of October 2016 at 8 pm german time, using the online formular you will find here on our site.
